How To Sell a Cottage, Beach House or Lifestyle Property

A few years back, Christine and I saw a cottage for sale on our favourite lake about two hors north of Toronto Canada. A friend on the lake told us about it. She said it had been sitting on the market for about 5 months.

After a bit of searching, I eventually found the listing online.

It was late May and the wonderful threat of Summer was in the air. The days were getting longer and the smells that nature delivers with the change of the seasons were in the air.

When I found the listing online, I was even more excited.

All the photos had been taken in the Winter and snow massed around the cottage and the boathouse on the lake.

May and June are some of the best months to market lifestyle property in the northern hemisphere because it's right at the beginning of the warmest season. In other wards, buy this cottage now and have fun this summer.

I immediately felt sorry for the seller because the agent didn't really care. There were so many awesome photo opportunities to present this property in all its glory but no. Most of the pictures were bleak and wintery.

We offered low with no competition and bought it.

Fast forward to this Summer and our next door neighbour puts their cottage on the market.
